It is used to treat natural low levels of estradiol or abnormal bleeding from the uterus, as well as delayed sexual development in females or certain cancers of the prostate. It is mainly administered to prevent pregnancy.
Dosage and direction
Follow exactly all recommendations of your doctor. Do not take more of the medication than it was prescribed to you. Do not stop or start any medication without your doctor’s permission.
Precautions
Risk of side effects of the medication increase in smokers and in women over 35 years of age. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Lynoral should not be used in women who are pregnant or plan to get pregnant as it may harm the unborn baby.
Possible side effect
The most frequent side effects include breast tenderness, weight gain, mental/mood changes, depression, headache, pain in chest, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, trouble sleeping, hair loss, vaginal infections. More rare and more serious side effects include severe headache, trouble breathing, chest pain, pain in the lower legs or groin, vision changes, severe abdominal pain, one-sided weakness, jaundice, lumps in the breast. Contact your doctor if side effects listed above worsen.
Drug interaction
Lynoral decreases effects of antihypertensive drugs and diuretics. Antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives based on Ethinyl Estradiol. Anticonvulsants reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
Missed dose
If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember and return to your schedule. Thus, you may take two tablets a day. If you missed two intakes in a row use alternative contraception methods (condoms, spermicides) for a least a week and check with your doctor about new scheme of treatment for you.
Overdose
Contact your doctor if you suspect overdose.
Storage
Store in a dry tight container away from sunlight at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F) away from children and pets.
